Temporary, Portable Containment Bunds

Portable Containment Bunds (PCB’s) also known as a spill berm and spill bund, our ExoGuard collapsible Portable Containment Bunds are designed for use in a variety of spill containment and chemical containment needs common in mining, oil & gas or industrial applications.

Available in standard sizes or custom built to suit your organisation’s requirements, a portable spill bund is ideal as temporary bunding or for a permanent operation.

Our Portable Containment Bunds are manufactured here in Australia using heavy duty 900gsm PVC or 1,020gsm XR-5 geomembrane. Material options are highly resistant to punctures, tears, abrasions, ultraviolet radiation, temperature extremes, hydrocarbons, and a host of chemicals. Both the PVC and XR-5 bund offer longevity and suit a variety of applications.

Collapsible Bund Stands are Tough and Strong

ExoGuard’s collapsible bund is manufactured with a strong and durable stand design which can easily be folded and deployed. The stands are made with a durable marine grade batten to provide exceptional flexibility and strength. These battens ensure even if the bund were to fill completely, it would maintain it’s structure and hold the liquid. Stands can be driven over if the wall of the spill bund is collapsed. For added protection simply cover the folded down bund wall with a material such as an extra sheet of PVC.

Other Features of Portable Containment Bunds

Portable Containment Bunds are designed for easy set up and can be stored compactly when not in use (storage bags available)

Collapsible bunds can be fitted with drain ports to provide pump out access (a solid bund is the safest approach)

Materials are suitable for a wide range of chemicals including most hydrocarbons and many acids

The Portable Containment Bund can be easily cleaned in the instance of a chemical spill

Designed as drive over bunding – simply collapse a wall to drive in or out of the bund

As a permanent or temporary liquid containment bund, some common uses include tank bund, ISO tank bund, IBC bund, drum storage bund, generator bund and 20′ or 40′ container bund. Virtually any type of container or equipment could be stored in the bund when used as a secondary containment option to be compliant with AS 1940.

To make them even easier to use, the Portable Containment Bunds can be supplied with a:

Ground mat to increase their durability in harsh environments;

Liner for added protection against punctures or harsh chemicals;

Repair kit to keep you operating in the case of a puncture or small tear;

Carry bag to make it easy to move and store the bund (carry bags suitable to lift on fork)

These spill containment bunds and accessories are reusable so long as they are in good repair, properly cleaned and properly stored.

Applications for Portable Containment Bunds

How to Choose the Right Size of Collapsible Bund

These portable spill containment berms can be manufactured to any size to a maximum of 20m x 15m. Here are some tips to choosing the size:

Increase the spill bund capacity or make a smaller footprint by choosing a higher wall. Options are 300mm or 500mm high.

Think about the footprint. The portable bund will be 1m wider and 1m longer than the internal measurement. A ground mat will require a little more space to the bund footprint.

Remember to leave space to:

Walk around inside the collapsible bund if necessary.

Fold down a wall for forklift loading the bund.

Give cranes ample clearance to drop in contents.

Open doors (such as a container door which swings out in a semi-circle).

Attach hoses to equipment or vehicles inside the spill bund.

Add a pump for draining the liquid containment bund.
